Grow Mushrooms for Food & Medicine: A Hands-On Intro to Learning to Grow Mushrooms
Curious about growing your own mushrooms? Whether you're passionate about food, wellness, or the natural world, this beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop is a fun and practical way to get started.
You'll learn how to cultivate mushrooms at home using simple, low-waste methods that are perfect for kitchens and small spaces. Each participant will create a Lion’s Mane mushroom kit to take home—watch it grow and enjoy the harvest!
Mushrooms are a nutrient-dense, plant-based food with powerful culinary and medicinal benefits. They’re especially valuable for vegans, vegetarians, and anyone interested in growing their own sustainable, healing food.
This workshop is the first in a series exploring mushrooms—for food, medicine, and fun.
Your instructor, Connie Walker, is a Community Mushroom Educator trained through Cornell’s Small Farms Program and certified in mushroom food safety through Mushroom Mountain. She’s also a biopic farmer, a passionate advocate for food security and community resilience, and the founder of The MushRoom—a food forest and education space where fungi and people grow together.
After the workshop, you'll have the option to stay connected through an ongoing grower support group. Connie will offer continued guidance as your mushroom kit grows, and you’ll be part of a community where you can ask questions, share progress, and learn together. It’s a great way to stay engaged and supported on your mushroom cultivation journey.
Sliding scale: $30–$50
